Feel free, connected, and joyful again
You can have deep healing, strong connections, and the life you truly desire
Meet Yasmeen Addington, MA, LCMHCA, LMHCA, SEP in Durham, NC
You’ve tried therapy before but felt it only helped so much or didn’t quite bring the freedom and resolutions you have been looking for. What you really want is deep healing that feels inclusive, holistic, and gets to the root of your concerns.
No more band-aids!
Curious about taking your healing journey further?
I specialize in guiding clients who are eager to elevate their healing journey, seeking genuine, profound relief that goes deeper than the surface.
If you've found traditional therapy to be lacking or unable to fully address all aspects of your experience, my approach may be what you're looking for.
We delve beyond the realm of your mind, learning the language of your entire system at your own pace.
Our bodies hold the stories of our experiences. When life gets overwhelming, paying attention to these stories can help us heal.
In our sessions, we create a supportive space for you to explore these narratives and learn practices that align your intentions with your actions, promoting healing.
As a BIPOC and queer clinician, I bring a unique understanding of the significance of establishing trust with those we confide in. Drawing upon my personal experiences as well as clinical training, my culturally informed approach aims to create a space that honors and embraces the complexity of your multifaceted identity and experiences.
I’m the therapist for you if…
Despite delving into numerous self-help books, soaking up podcasts, and even having previous therapy experiences, it still feels like you're not reaching the destination you desire. The somatic work we embark on together creates a holistic space for your entire being—body, mind, spirit, and beyond.
My background in health and wellness, graduate education in counseling psychology, training in Somatic Experiencing, and my personal cultural experiences blend with my professional skills and know-how. It's not just about your thoughts, it's about all of you—culturally aware, trauma-informed, and holistic.
The letters behind my name show I’m qualified to offer therapy, but I didn’t stop there. I practice what I preach by being in therapy too. I'm committed to continuing to go deeper in my own journey of healing and personal growth. This helps me be fully present for you, creating a comfortable and open space in our sessions. It's all about you—no personal baggage from me. I share personal insights only if they genuinely contribute to your healing and growth.

Methods & Approaches
-
Somatic Experiencing is a modality developed to help clients to heal their body and mind from overwhelming experiences like trauma and stress. We focus on your body’s natural responses to these difficulties with the goal of releasing any trapped energy or feelings. We work to cultivate space where you can gently explore these responses, so your body can get unstuck and complete its innate healing process. This facilitates you reconnecting with your whole self in a supportive way.

As Walt Whitman so aptly wrote, we contain multitudes, and the various aspects of our selves may often have needs, emotions, and desires that feel at odds with our conscious mind. Parts work is an approach where we can explore the many sensations, memories, behaviors, and emotions that make up your unique sense of self. We work together to identify them, understand their roles, and engage in conversation with them in order to help meet their unmet needs. The goal is to integrate the various parts to make more room for the multitudes you hold. This process allows you to make friends with your various parts so you can work together towards feeling better.

Environmental, systemic, and internalized oppressions from our varying identities impact our mental health and well-being, and our access to equitable care, both on an individual and collective scale. As such, I offer reflection and connection on this in our work together. The specifics of the healing process are particular to the personality and intersections of each person’s identity regarding race, ethnicity, gender, culture, class, ability, education, sexual orientation, language, age, etc. and I am here for it.

Mindfulness is about noticing the present moment without judgment. It is integral to the healing journey, as it serves as our gateway to self-awareness. Beyond a cognitive process confined to our head, our “mind” permeates every part of our body, interconnected with our whole system. By directing our focus to different facets of our experience, we unlock valuable insights to support ourselves. This journey of self-awareness fosters integration and healing, ultimately contributing to our overall well-being.

Why the name Woven Wellbeing?
Woven Wellbeing emerged from my realization of how my mixed identity shapes my interactions and experiences. Juggling multiple identities, sometimes in conflict with the external world, places me in a unique space that embraces life's complexities and nuanced aspects. Trauma tends to create rigid perspectives, but by engaging in healing work and embracing the diversity within ourselves, we expand our presence and grant ourselves the freedom to exist authentically.
